In 2003, Concept Artist Phil Saunders was brought in to work on the film Superman: Flyby. The film was based on a script by Producer/Director J.J. Abrams (Star Trek), and had it gone past concept, would have been directed by Brett Ratner or McG. Saunders’ first job was to create designs for the pod that carried Kal-El as a baby and that crash landed on the Kent Farm. Phil also worked on the Rouser, a giant battle mech used by Superman’s cousin Kata-Zor.
