Australi is a fantasy adventure comic series set in an alternate colonial Australia. It follows the story of a young Indigenous, Maloo. He’s a wander, traveling the desert with his camel, Spit, looking for riches. But when he unwittingly steals a magical gemstone from the leader of the British occupation, he sets in motion a journey to fulfill his destiny as the hero of Australi.
Australian fantasy is a rarely seen genre. We are exploring what a fantasy Australia might look and feel like. We believe that Australia is a richly beautiful and mysterious setting for an adventure tale. We have been working with Indigenous elders, artists and community figures during the creation of issue #1.
