Concept artist and illustrator Kael Ngu was kind enough to share some of the matte paintings he created for the animated short ZZZ. This animation was created by a team of six as the final project for their diploma program in Digital Animation at The One Academy in Malaysia. Ngu was the Art director and Lead matte painter in the team. The animated short is focused on achieving a 2D look by incorporating 3D animated characters into 2D matte paintings. Ngu is currently working full-time as a CG Artist and Concept Artist at Passion Republic.
